On July 19, 2023, the New York Festivals Advertising Awards unveiled the winners, with DDB Mexico honored with 4 Grand Awards, among other high-profile recipients such as BBDO Group Germany GmbH, DDB Chicago, FCB Lisboa, Promise South Africa, Saatchi & Saatchi Düsseldorf, TBWA\HAKUHODO Japan, VMLY&R Commerce USA, and Wolf BKK Thailand.
The Executive Jury, led by Bianca Guimaraes, Partner & Executive Creative Director for Mischief USA, deliberated to award-winning work within their specific categories. The result? A range of groundbreaking campaigns honored with the prestigious Best of Show Award, 12 New York Festivals Grand Awards, 120 Gold Tower Awards, 72 Silver Towers and 114 Bronze Towers.
Best of Show: The Air Drummer
Wolf BKK Thailand earned the coveted Best of Show Award for their humorous campaign, “The Air Drummer“, created for Robinson Department Store. This cleverly devised campaign, urging Thais to “discount what they love most”, ended with a surprise twist, capturing the hearts of many and increasing sales by 12% from last year’s promo period. The campaign generated an impressive 18 million impressions, with the phenomenon spreading to China, Korea, Spain, and other countries.
ACTIVATION & ENGAGEMENT
DDB Chicago USA’s campaign “Apologize the Rainbow” for Skittles broke new ground in audience engagement, transforming the way consumers interact with the brand.
AVANT-GARDE/INNOVATIVE
The “Data Tienda” campaign by DDB MEXICO SA DE CV for Gahr WeCapital was a prime example of innovative advertising that pushes boundaries. As Diego Ortiz Mimo, Chief Creative Officer, DDB MÉXICO noted, “Contributing ideas that help solve [financial inclusion] from a small local Mexican bank makes us feel proud and happy.”

Saatchi & Saatchi Düsseldorf Germany’s “Oreo Cheat Cookies” for Mondelēz Europe/Oreo showcased the powerful results of a successful brand partnership. VMLY&R Commerce USA’s “Oreocodes” for Oreo brilliantly combined commercial intention with creative heart, illustrating the transformative power of commerce in driving creative business transformation.
DESIGN
FCB Lisboa Portugal won for “Portuguese (Re)Constitution” for Penguin Books, a campaign that masterfully used design to engage and inspire its audience.

Film
Wolf BKK Thailand’s “The Air Drummer” for Robinsons Department Store won in the Film category. This humorous campaign, aimed at Thailand’s top department store’s annual Salesation, brilliantly captured audiences and drove tangible results.

TBWA\HAKUHODO Japan’s “SHELLMET” for Koushi Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. was awarded for its eco-friendly approach to product design, using discarded shells to create a durable material.
